| Description: |
ONEBOOKAZ Author Susan Lowell will be presenting a Storytime and Book Signing at the Cottonwood Library Kids Zone on Friday, March 26th, 9:30 a.m.
The Three Little Javelinas/Los Tres Pequeños Jabalíes written by Susan Lowell and illustrated by Jim Harris
is the kids’ selection and the second bilingual ONEBOOKAZ title.
The book was chosen by Arizonans through an online vote that took place during the month of September.
Brought to Arizona in 2002, and coordinated by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records’ Center for the Book, ONEBOOKAZ is an exciting literacy program that brings communities together through reading. Beginning in April every year, this program encourages communities across the State of Arizona to read the same book at the same time and to participate in discussions, programs, and events centered on that book. The Three Little Javelinas is the story of wild, southwestern pig cousins, not the typical story of
the three little pigs. Living in homes built of tumbleweeds and cacti, the first two javelinas are soon
running from the hungry coyote, who had hoped to eat them with red chili sauce. And where do they
go for shelter? To their wise sister, who made her house with strong adobe bricks, of course!
Susan Lowell is a fourth-generation Arizonan. She has worked as a newspaper reporter, college
professor, editor and publisher, rancher, and freelance writer for adults and children. Her work
focuses on the American West.
ONEBOOKAZ has been presented since 2002 by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records, the Institute for Museum and Library Services, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the Arizona Library Association, and Maricopa Community Colleges, in partnership with libraries, museums, and educational institutions in Arizona; with support from APS, The Arizona Republic, Follett Library Resources, KAET, Phoenix College, Sun Sounds of Arizona, and the Phoenix Book Company.
